Krabi - Thailand : Best moments part 1

We also took one day trip to do kayaking , to visit the sea caves , and we also did elephant trekking. Anyway why go Thailand if we can't see the magnificent and the most important animal for the Thai people? :)

This experience is amazing . I love it ! To be able to paddle the kayak in the river stream , between the mangroves and to go inside the caves , and to see the amazing stalactites ! And to paddle the kayak/canoe is one work out that is best to tone up your upper body muscles! Yeah, we do felt it the day after! ^_^

We started by taking the long tail boat from Railey to Ao Nang. From there the tour guide pick us and we drove to do the kayaking. We did about 2 km of kayaking for about 3 hours. It was divided in to 2 parts, before lunch we went to 2 caves and paddles about 1.5 km, we also visit the rubber plantation and then we had lunch by the river .

Getting ready and all excited!!

And the journey began....

Indy and our guide.

Can you see the shape of this lime stones? YUP.... it looks like an elephant!!

After we got more energy we did the second part , to visit to another caves, and one National Park where the Thailand's Archeologist found the pre historic painting on the Cave's wall. It is believed that the cave was the home of the pre historic people long time ago.

About to enter the sea caves, in the middle it was so dark I can't barely see a thing. Maya was nervous and scared the first time we entered the cave.
After dark....there comes the light! :) We can see the other end of the cave!

The beautiful view

It is not easy to paddle with a toddler sit in front of you :). I need to positioned the paddle not so close to me as it will knock Maya's head .

In the " secret" lagoon. So peaceful and quiet.

Can you see the painting on the wall?

And guess what? Yeah... my digital camera battery died on me! GRR!!! @#$@#$@... I didn't took the painting photos.

Us with other 2 people in our small group

We also had a fresh young coconut here. So fresh and cooling !

Maya and Jojo our guide.

From there we went to the natural swimming pool ( fresh water) . You can swim with the fish and the water is so refreshing!

He shares the same birthday with the Tarzan of the Apes not for nothing!

Maya and Indy loves it!

Yohooo!!!
After that we went to the Elephant camp to do one hour elephant trekking into the jungle! The elephants even walk in the small river stream, and the slope is very slipper and steep. I must make sure I don't fall and I must keep Maya too! Indy on the other hand was so relax and didn't even hold on to a thing ( only when the elephant walked down the slope)

Maya moved to sit on the top of the Elephant's head. When we went to a slope I asked her : Maya are you ok? She said : I am Ok ,Ma!!
She gave the elephant praise when the elephant passed the slope : good girl!! good job!!!

Feeding the Ellie!
Indy in close encounter with the Giant Mammals. She said thank you to "her" elephant for a great ride and said bye bye and please don't forget me! I told her that Elephant has a great memory from all the animals.

Krabi- Thailand highlight part 1

We went to Krabi, South of Thailand for a 12 days vacation at the end of August month. This is the place where my dh went for his first vacation during his first job in Asia ( while he was working in Singapore) 12 years back. Before we even knew each other. Then we went again one more time, a year after our marriage. During that time we stayed in a budget room, just go with our backpack and had an easy going and laid back vacation.

This time, it is like a full circle moment for us ( specially for him) that we are back to the same place , 12 years ago, but with wife and 2 girls in tow. And of course we need to stay in a bigger bungalow and choose a resort than has facitilies for family and young kids as well . It is amazing how life can lead us and how easy and nice it is to look back at our past.

It is easy to reach Thailand from Malaysia, many direct flight and even you can reach there via bus ( if you don't bring kids, and got time to spare ).If you can get a great deal with air ticket you can get it for a low price, specially if you in the West Malaysia. From East Malaysia, you will need to fly to Kuala Lumpur first. The flight from KL to Krabi Airport is about 1 hour 20 minutes. And it took us longer to reach KL from KK ( 2 hours 30 minutes)

As usual, we want to have a relaxing time, and we don't like to follow a rush , jam packed tour schedule. My husband decided we stay in a small coast of Railay beach. This is a peninsula that can't reach by land because of the stunning limestones. You can reach there via long tail boat via Ao Nang or Nan Mao pier.

We stay in Railay Bay Resort and Spa, we stayed for 9 days in the Privacy Cottage and the rest in the Suite Cottage. It is a great resort, affordable , served great Thai and International Menu.

The view in Railay is amazing with the blue sea and the limestones as background.

As by the time we were travelling, Malaysia was hit by H1N1 cases, so we did put mask for the journey.

As for travelling with young children, I found that this time around, it was a bit more easier, but it is never been an easy job to travel with kids below 5 :). From birth up to at least 4 years, you will need a lot of patience, tricks and a good load of sense of humour when you tot a long kids for vacations. But don't worry, normally, at holiday kids' mood can be good also compare to when they were home.

As for Maya this time, she is 3 years old, she was as excited as Indy, She understand more this time. She knew we need to take 2 planes and a boat to reach our hotel , and she knew how to carry her own backpack that is packed with wet tissue, dry tissue , hand sanitizer, her jacket and water bottle and there are more variety of food that she can consume during this time. And she enjoyed to do some coloring in the airplane and in the hotel to kill some times , she enjoyed some children dvd too and she sure enjoy to play in the sand and sea and of course in the pool. She also participated in the shell searching, crabs killing ( yeah , I will explain that on the next post hehehe) . As for Indy, she is almost 7 now. So she can sure enjoy the most. She can play her video game in the plane, watch movies in the room, read children book and more other fun outdoor activities too.

Oh and Maya is a pro in the airplane. She know the "rules" : first say bye bye to luggages ( check in) then show "police" her face ( immigration) then wait , then go in the airplane, put seat belt , and then when the airplane fly up high, she can open the table, and order food . Not bad huh for a 3 years old. LOL

Here are some photos, I hope this post will be useful for other parents, who are thinking to bring their kids for vacation.

@ LCCT. Our flight got delayed.

Strike a pose first...

Finally @ Krabi ( Nam Mao Pier) , we took long tail boat to Railey Beach ( 15 minutes )

Maya is super excited about the boat trip.

This is the longtail boat

Posing at the beach just in front of our resort. Do you see the limestones? Railey is best known as the paradise for the rock climbers!

Walking to the other side of the beach
Passing the " jungle"

Can you spot the monkey?

Us on the other side of the Railay's beach ( Phranang beach)

Priceless , father and daugther swim in the ocean with the limestones backdrop
Maya's bath tub ( or Bluff tub as she pronounced it)
After hitting the beach, we soaked some more in the outdoor jacuzzi in our cottage
