10 Things Every Woman Must Own - Look Your Best - Fashion - InStyle

10 Things Every Woman Must Own - Look Your Best - Fashion - InStyle

Ladies, I just want to share this article from Instyle.com ( yes that is one of my bookmark link on my browser ^_^).  Have fun looking and take a mental note what do you need to look for during next window shopping ! Hah! I almost bought a pair of red flat today ( before I read this article) but it doesn't come in my size! Sigh... And my plan for next month , preparation for Autumn is to have custom made trench coat  ( yes I can custom made anything here in Shanghai! LOL, that's  the beauty to live here!) My only doubt is in which color should I get? I am thinking of Camel or Nude color , or should I take black for timeless look?

Ok so here you go the 10 things you should own in your wardrobe :
Star stylist Nicole Chavez (inset photo) collaborates with celebrities like Rachel Bilson, Kristen Bell and Scarlett Johansson. We asked her which key pieces every woman should have in her closet.

Black Blazer

NICOLE SAYS "A tailored blazer is classic, feminine and looks great on all body types. Pair it with anything: jeans, little dresses, trousers, skirts. Make sure to find one that fits you well and accentuates your waist—you don't want it to look like it's swallowing you!"

Leopard Print Scarf

NICOLE SAYS "Even if you're wearing a basic T-shirt and jeans, use accessories like a printed scarf as the 'bright' piece to complete your look."

Red Flats

NICOLE SAYS "Black is the obvious choice, but red flats provide a pop of color and work for every season. I love to pair them with a striped shirt and a trench coat."

Striped Shirt

NICOLE SAYS "This timeless classic is having a comeback. It looks great paired with brights or prints or peeking out from underneath a blazer."

Statement Necklace

NICOLE SAYS "I believe in having basics in your closet and playing with your accessories. The statement necklace can make a simple outfit look strong and feminine."

Little Black Dress

NICOLE SAYS "Every woman knows she should have a little black dress, but it's important to invest in one that's special. Look for a dress with a detail—an interesting sleeve, an embellished belt—that makes it unique. And remember that finding the right fit is important!"

Black Opaque Tights

NICOLE SAYS "A great pair of tights can make your legs look slimmer and help you get away with wearing a dress that's a little too short. Double them up for a more opaque look—and to keep you warm in the winter!"

Oversize Watch

NICOLE SAYS "A watch is as much an accessory as it is a timepiece. A gold watch is a great way to dress an outfit up—try leaving it loose so it looks like a bracelet."

Classic Trench

NICOLE SAYS "Think of this as an investment piece—you'll wear it forever, even if you fluctuate in size. Look for a classic A-line silhouette that will cinch you in at the waist and wear it over everything from suits to jeans."

Flared Jeans

NICOLE SAYS "This is a flattering shape for most body types. Pair them with platforms or wedges to get extra height while keeping the look casual and comfortable."

Second one :) Airport chic inspired by Kim K

My second creation is the Airport chic inspired by Kim K  blog post .

My new game! Polyvore.

I never played with Barbie when I was a kid. Well maybe just  a bit. But I prefer to sketch on a paper , to create a fashionable look with my  imagination. In fact , my dad thought I would be a fashion designer, since I am so in to fashion show , sketching out model , and very keen into make up ! :) If there was a fashion show on the news, he would call me to see it. And I almost enroll my self to the famous Indonesian designer school in Jakarta as well. But since I m bad with sewing , I didn't choose to enroll there. I thought what kind of a fashion designer will I be if I can't sew?  LOL. So I choosed  the Hotel management college instead. But still I have a passion for fashion ( which women doesn't? ) .

I found this website recently and I found it pretty fun too! I could choose any designer brands that I like without breaking my wallet.

My first creation for casual chic is bellow . Let me know if it's a Hit or  Miss? The shoes are to die for for sure!! !! ^_^

Next step on the project

I've been eye-ing this thing for quite sometimes now. Finally I decided to take it home with me ( see... I don't just buy things, but I do consider it for sometimes... LOL self defense mode ! ) . After putting my accessories in the drawer, I think I still need something to just hang it on display for some items I use often , or just because it looks pretty to hang it there.

I think the accessories mannequin is very girlish and good to have. I know I must wipe the dust often though! :) .
Enough said, like you all can see, I choose the "etnic" design on the top pic. I also eye-ing the Chinese dresses, ballgown, tutus etc for next purchase :P
So this is what it's looks like after I hang some of my bangles, and  tiny type of earrings, and some of the pearls necklace. What do you think of it?

And this is what Indy has:
Yup the mini version of the mannequin with furry tutus. Very girlish indeed. And since her earrings are mostly stud earring ( no way I will let her wear dangling earring yet!), she can't hang it here. The mini mannequin has simpler hanger compare to big one.

Hm... I wonder if they make the life size one, would it be nice to put our bags , coats, hats, scarves, maybe shoes there? It can serves as room decor too! hah! ^_^

My current and Next Projects

I have a few projects in mind. The one I have done is to re-do my jewelry drawer. Mind you these are not the valuable one but more into fashionable one. Or should I say it my accessories drawer? But these are just for bracelets/bangles , earrings, necklace. While accessories are also included scarfs, belts, hair clips/bands etc ( this will be my next project if time permit :) )

So this is what I have done so far. And I am sure my collection will still keep growing , since I have the access to H & M, ZARA, Uni Qlo stores over here. And some are my old collection where I bought from Parkson KK, Forever 21 Jakarta and some are gifts from friends .

I don't really put on these stuffs daily, but since I like the simple clothing but up to date , I think to add a piece of "statement" jewelry or just a right piece of bangles will do great. I don't really wear much necklace but I love bold necklace to accentuate black basic t-shirt. But my favorite piece of accessories is earrings. Earrings is a must for me , my all time favorite is the loops designs. Second favorite piece is bangles/bracelets at the moment, and I love to stacks lots and lots of the thin one with one BIG one. Imagine a simple little black dress, with a stud pearl earrings, no necklace and with 10 stacks of thin gold bracelets, and one Thick gold bangles. Simple and chic at the same time  ! Or just with white tank top, skinny jeans , the gold bangles/bracelets will add the glam ! :) ok enough with the imagination of style for now.

So that is how I put my accessories, since ( I am pretty sure) my collection will still grow ( guilty grin) I already have one more drawer just like this stand by to be filled in with more stuffs. :-D

The next project in mind are : to rearrange my bags collection in a more proper way. Right now this is how it look like ( some of it only, some of it I hang to retain the shapes)

I stuffed the bags with old cloths, and use the duffel bags , or some old pillow case . I love all of my bags to bits, as you can see I don't have that much bags ( but I just got one bronze colored bag for a present YAY! ) And I rewarded my self recently to a very nice glam up RED evening clutch !! DOUBLE YAY but Triple Ouch to my pocket! :(( > I don't really buy bag that often. All of them has special story < normally is bought with much consideration , self debate and major hurt in my pocket! hehe), some are presents ( hint : you will never to wrong  by buying me a bag ! LOL).

I don't have much space left in my wardrobe,  just 2 of this cubicles can be use for my bags ( unless I secretly dunk my dh's clothes and use it for mine ^_^).  I really don't have any idea right now how to arrange it in a better way except to put it according to type : Small ( evening bags) and Big ( daily bags). Hmm.... do you have any tips?

PS: Next project is to rearrange my make up table/ make up case ( If I am not too lazy to do so ! LOL)

Till then..... Oh and what is your favorite piece of accessories? And how do you keep them? And how do you store your bags?

Happy weekend and uhm.... happy shopping !!! ^_^
XOXO

What do you put in your evening clutch?

I just read about the evening clucth essential at the Celebrities' make up artist's Blog by Troy Jensen.
" When I get one of my celebrity girls ready for a big red carpet event, I always prepare the perfect touch-up essentials for them to put in their clutch. Aside from their cell phone, credit card, keys and mints, I want them to have everything they need to stay flawless all evening long. I make sure they have the essentials to touch up their make-up. I usually give them some blotting sheets, an eye liner, concealer, mascara and lip gloss. That's just enough to fit into their little evening clutch. Now on your next evening out, you'll have everything you need to look beautiful all evening long"

Mine would be : credit card, some cash, mobile phone, small mirror, lipgloss ( I don't really wear lipstick ),compact powder, mints, camera ( if I can fit it in ).

Troy Jenses also recommend this beauty product that I absolutely LUV

I knew this product about 3 years ago, while I tried the free YSL make over in Jakarta by one of the well knows make up artist. When he put it on, wow , I was totally impressed by it. The price is very high. But this is the magic wand. I don't use it daily though. After that make over , I made a major hole in my pocket :P by buying YSL products that I like. ( I also love their lipgloss and blush) and I really want to try this new blush! droool!!!!

That is one of my favorite things to do in Jakarta , the free make over . LOL. Last December I did one with Make up forever team to create the smoky eyes and I love their smoky eyes extra black mascara!

What is your make up essential for evening ?

Her designs continue.....

So the "A privellege" time gave a lot of time for her to experiment with her creativity lately.
She made this for us :

She can really capture us in this small art thing. A purple nails with beads for me ( Straight to the point!) .As you can see she wrote I Love but then there are not enough space , so the V and E are very closed apart ( almost on the top of each other ! hahaha) and to describe papa ? A car! Does she know us better than anyone else? :) And do you see the little purple standing fashion design? yup that was actually got little stand on the back, but in this pic it looks like it was flat. And it has one long sleeves only. When I asked her about it , she said it is the model like that. Hmm could it be the now in trend again "toga top" style? :)

And then my "order" from online store arrived via post , and normally I would hide it from her. This time she caught me and here are some of my order and my old clothes and Indy matches that again and asked me to take photos of it.

The black sequined mini dress is not new and I got it overseas for sometimes , still got the tag though :) because I don't have the right time to wear it. The black jacket is just arrive at my door step , and I got it from here. ( I just want to share with you all, I think the clothes are great and the price is very affordable too! In fact I just placed my second pre-order again ) And I think this new black ( looks like grey-ish in the pic) jacket/blazer is really nice for evening outings. My old black blazer is not so up to date, I think I will use this jacket/blazer alot. It is so classic and versatile too . Like these

Indy second design:
And this is the new top , here is the link . I more likely to pair it with jeans but as you can see, Indy dig and find my high waisted skirt , which I also love. I started to love it since earlier this year. My inspiration for the skirt :

Indy wants to pair it with shoes and bag too. I said no to her. Enough that she messed up my clothes for now! :)

Oh and I also like this ruffled top wore by Kim K. I like some feminine kind of top but can be wear for casual or semi formal.

Anyway , I can't wait for my next pre -order this and this ! ahaha actually are the same style but I took it one color each. The back details are so pretty!! :P
And as you can see all of my order are below Rm 50! Who say you can't look good with limited budget? Have fun!

My little stylist

Indy's progress is doing ok at school. She got the " A Privellege" receiver twice this week. That is for student who can reach the goal of doing the Pace books the most. And the rewards they can choose: to use computer for 15 minutes before school ends ( to play games ) or to bring something they like to school. Indy choose to bring art and craft supply and wants to make something at school. But she forgot that day. To use her " hard to earn" free time at school , she draw this instead. And surprise it was for me! :)

She is much more into creativity more than to academic. She's been making many arts things at home out of "garbage" ( like the tissue roll cardboard, jelly mould, napkin, paper plates etc). She is also into " fashion" lately and she has A LOT of comments on how I dressed , a lot of inputs for what shoes or bag I should use too. Especially if I go out just wiht her dad, she got so much idea of what I should wear for "date" with papa. HAH!

So this is what she draw for me:

the picture might not be clear but it is the drawing of many clothing items and she designed it for me. Notice the Heels? She said mamma must wear heels, it is so pretty. According to her ( clock wise from left) first picture is for Shopping ( blue top with jeans and heels) . Second one is a black dress with sequins and bling bling for dinner with papa. Then the bottom right : black top and blue trouser is for going to movie , she even put bracelet . The last one is a red top and flowly black skirt is for dinner also. She begged me to wear more skirt actually :), maybe I should consider her advice, don't you think?

My favorite is the last one, red top with black skirt and heels and bracelet! :) . She is a lot like me in this thing. I also like to draw a lot when I was small and mostly ( and only) I draw fashion and designing clothing.

Indy said she wants to be a fashion stylist when she is big . But being pet taker, dogs hotel owner is also on her list! :))

Here are more of her "designs"
Of course for a 7 years old , her taste still very child like with a lots of colors combo :) , but I don't give much critics at her designs. I want her to have her childish taste . And I just enjoy it ! I prefer her to still dress like a little girl :)

Since she begged me to use my clothes to find the styles. ( I told her she can only do this with me and can't let her friends to play with my clothes ).So here we go :

One of my favorite top ( ;-D) and a line skirt

Rocker style . :)

Jeans and yellow stripy tops

And of course the designer her self ( in my clothes) Indiana Rocco!! :-D
