Now a days girls are much more vain. Like my lil girl , she loves to play make up, do nail coloring, bring bags, wear hair accessories .
Blame it to the
Kimora's life in fab lane show that I wacthed , where there was an episode where the girls went to children spa in Hollywood , LA. They had a chocolate mask, then did their nails .
So Indy been asking me many times to have a children spa, and I said , there is no children spa here.
She's been playing
this game lately. So she is all about nails and manicure now.
And she is not even 6!
I think I got to be blamed as well, as I love manicure, pedicure my self. I always try to get my toes to be painted nicely , as I think it compliment my feet ,specially if I wear those open toes shoes or sandals.
I love nail colors so much and I remember I started to painted my nails , when I was 15 years old.( which to me now ,it's seem way to late ,compare to the girls now a days). And I am always the Aunt that my nieces love to play make up, dress up, do nails with.
I just found a great nail saloon in KK, Sunday pro nail, in Karamunsing Komplex by accident.
While , we were suppose to go out to do shoes hunting , we were ended up in this salon, did relaxing pedicure and foot scrub and we even had the same colors on our toes!
Me and
her plan to do more nails session, I want to do nail extension , so I will have a nice nails for my BIL's wedding in Italy . Hopefully la will still nice by the time I reach there! :)
Oh and also want to have fresh pedicure before that.
Ok back to topic, since today is a PH, and I think I need to spent some more time with Indy alone, without Maya. I took her to CBTL to have brunch and then I promised her to bring her to manicurist.
Before saloon session
I was thinking to do my toes ( express pedicure this time will do) But too bad it was closed. So we looked around for other saloon but the other were mostly hairdressing saloon with manicure service, and it's quite crowded . I prefer a salon that only do mani/pedi only.
I was thinking to go to City Mall, but it's hard to get taxi to go home from there. So I told Indy, we try to go to the saloon nearby home. Where she cut her hair normally and I also did my nails there sometimes , just for touch up. And I also told her to cut her hair a little bit. She wants a long Barbie's hair, and I said NO WAY. She must keep her hair at shoulder length, I said.
So....off we go and, YES it was open! But it was very crowded . I think most people go to saloon on PH or weekend. So we must wait about 20 minutes and Indy practiced her reading much to my amusement . I didn't even know that she kept a book and a pencil in her bag. Finally the lady called her , it was her turn to cut her hair, I forgot to take the picture this time.
She took along a book and pencil, Tried to recognize and read some words.
Squeezed in the crowded saloon, mama monster's legs in the background .Then , we still must wait another 10 minutes before the lady who does the manicure can do Indy's nails. Since the small saloon was full, so Indy did her nail in the waiting area. When the lady asked her to choose the colors, WOW, she was beaming ear to ear, and she got a hard time to decide!
She said she wanted peach, then change to light purple, then the lady suggested a cotton candy pink and she refused it at the first place, she said : "no that is too bright. I cant use that, later my teacher will see it" ( haha...she knows that she is not suppose to wear nail colors to school)But I said if you choose the lighter colors, it won't show , because it is too light. So at the end she picked the cotton candy pink. And I asked the lady to do nail art also. A simple nail art will do.
" Oh Mamma, I couldn't believe I am having a manicure!"
( we were in the waiting area)
She was too scare to move and breath I think! So she got a cotton candy pink in her nail and white and pink flower on it.
Pretty. And she said she wants to do again before we go to Italy and she wants a heart shapes next time.
Here was when the lady to the flowers painting.
And I just paid RM 6 for her hair cut and RM 8 for the manicure! LOL quite a bargain right!
If I bring her to the nice manicurist sure it will be much more expensive, so that one let Mama do! For a 5 going to be 6 years old girl, a RM 8 manicure will do just fine!
TA DAAAAAA.......
I am thinking it is not nice to spoil our children like this, I know some moms are very strict about this, but I think once in a while , it will not do harm ( is it?) I don't want my girl's to grow up too fast, but I also don't want them to think that their mom is boring, I want to be her friend but I also must make a line that, whatever happen , I am still your mother, and you must listen to me at the same time, I want her to understand that we can have fun together but a mother is still a mother. And yes...mother makes the rules .
My hubby is more on the traditional side, he won't allow his girls to do anything into fashion and make up things. He said , no one are going to colored their hair until they are 16 years old.( And I am the one who think : WHAT? 16? so long? LOL.... c'mon my niece colored her hair at the age of 12) As long as it doesn't go overboard I think that will be ok . He doesn't allow the girls to have ears piercing either!
But my MIL is the FUN Grandma, she is the one who bought most of Indy's handbags, make up sets, dresses, and all the fashion accessories ! So my dh can't blame me alone on that thing!
Cheers to all fashionista from this ex-fashionista
