Father's day 2010 / World Expo visit

June 20th is the Father's day. And I am thankful for a great father that I have. He is a truly inspiration for me. As I believe no one is perfect, I also believe that he is the best father I could ask for. The parenting style today is different in some way than in my own childhood. My father ( and most of my generation's fathers) have always been the " strict" or "scary" figure at home. The one with the highest authority and his words are the law at home. Well , in my case, my dad is strict but he is not the dictator, if our family is a kingdom, then he is the wise king. He knows when to be strict and when to be communicative and democratic to us. But one thing missing is that we were not so affectionate when I was a little. There was a barrier to him, we didn't hug as much. While when with my girls and their father, it is the whole opposite. And I think that is marvelous!! I love to see my girls can hug and kiss and be very affectionate to their papa, and vice versa. I do encourage father and daughter date a lot. It is just much much different now a days. And I do believe our relationship with our own father will influence our point of view to men in our adult life.

Well, I don't really spend the day with him on the Father's Day, so a phone conversation is what we had. And with the father of my children, we do have gifts for him , something useful of course and a bit fancy :)

On the same day we also made it to the EXPO on the father's day, on the cloudy, cool and bit of rainy day and it was perfect , much better than in the hot day . As many of you know this worldwide event is hosted by Shanghai this time.  And the average visitors per day is just about 350.000 . So we didn't have the expectation to enter any pavilion. We just be happy to go to the " quieter " pavilion. And me made it mostly to the  Joined African pavilion , and it is huge and very interesting.

Here are some photo I took that day.

We went there with friends  and sure the kids were having a blast !

This is UK pavilion.

Family pic in the one of the African region
We even made a henna tattoo for me and the kids .

They were discussing about their parents I guess :D .. I always love to see children to interact with others and the natural way they  build their friendship. The don't have judgment, prejudice , they don't look at the color of their eyes or skin or even hair or social background. They are just friends ! And that is what matter the most. We , as adult should learn from them, don't we?

One of my fave Father's day pic.  Fathers spending their one day off per week with their kids.

And I like this photo too! Just to capture the real moment. Happy belated father's day to all the great daddies out there. And if you haven't give a small special token of appreciation to your father or even your own husband, it is not too late now ! :) It's not the price but the appreciation is what count the most.

XOXO
